The director of Madonna's video inspired by Parajanov (photo/video)

One of the Facebook users Narek Hovhannisyan has recently posted a picture on his wall, where one can see 2 cadres from the world-known film The Color ofPomegranates (1968) directed by Sergei Parajanov and more 2 cadres too similar to them, from the famous pop star Madonna’s video Bedtime Story (1995). The director of this video Mark Romanek said that some scenes were in fact inspired by the 1968 Armenian film The Color of Pomegranates.

"Watching Sergei Parajanov's The Color of Pomegranates, or Sayat Nova, is like opening a door and walking into another dimension, where time has stopped and beauty has been unleashed. On a very basic level, it's a biography of the Armenian poet Sayat Nova, but before all else it's a cinematic experience, and you come away remembering images, repeated expressive movements, costumes, objects, compositions, colours."
Martin Scorsese
